repeat, REPEAT, repeat

:D who knew it could be so much fun!??
that's what we all did over at ThE CrEatiVe TyPe for prompt #28. used repetition. here is my take on the challenge:


doing this page kinda made me want to really start a hair diary to keep track of all the fun things i do to my hair.... interesting idea maybe in the works. :P

spring-time has arrived

and i'm sooo happy!! this is my first daffodil bloom in my little yard. spring means new life, fresh green grass, rain showers and lots of pretty pictures.

{things i love} thursday

all i have for you today is my Flickr faves. its been a very hard and busy week. i'm bustin my butt trying to finish my medical transcription course, so all my extra time is spent on that. its going good, but my brain feels like mush. :(

apparently its that time again...

for a fresh new hair-do! is it strange how happy this makes me!? lol.
here is my before and after.

once again we were up late in my cousin hannah's kitchen mixing a concoction of color to see what we could come up with. it is the most perfect auburn color (after it was pink, mauve, and green of course! lol). hannah rocks the color + cut. we also decided to leave a little peek-a-boo highlight in from my blonde. i love how it turned out!

thanks hannah for another great appointment in the "interactive hair salon" known as your apartment! i always have a great time and leave completely in love with my hair. :D

once again i used scrapblog.com to create my page. but once i start paper-scrapping again, i think i want to recreate this in paper too. this is one of my favorite pictures of chris and i. i love how this turned out.

a new picnik tip!!

i LOVE picnik! its where i go for all my photo editing. and i have learned so much in the last year about picnik and all its features. but, like always, i'm still learning!

i saw a picture on Flickr edited with picnik and i just loved the look of it, but had no idea how to do it myself. so i asked my contact and she showed me... directing me to a whole section of edits i didn't even know where there!!
under the "advanced" section choose "curves" and then select "faded daguerreotype."
here is a before and after to show what happens....
eek! i totally love it!!! i feel like a whole new world of options has opened up for me with just this one tip. i can't wait to explore the other presets and learn even more about picnik!

childhood memories

memories are some of my most precious possessions. i guess that is probably something easily recognizable about me... i'm a scrapbooker, right?! but sometimes things just hit me in the gut and drag me back to a time and place i remember and love. i get tingles and a smile creeps up on my face. music does that to me many times. and today i want to share one of those music memory moments with you.

her name is Susan Aglukark and she is an Inuit from northern canada. her voice is hauntingly sweet and memorable. i had a dream a few nights ago that included this scene from her video of the ice wall being broken down. and it just hit me... i need to find that CD. but i could not for the life of me remember her name. i asked my mum, i talked to friends, i searched and searched online but could not find her. but then i had a memory moment...

i remembered when i was little and would go up north to visit my dad in smithers, bc canada. we had good friends who had this album and she would play it loud from the house on warm summer days. so i sent her a message on facebook, and she remembered the artist's name!! this seriously made my day. so i've been listening to the songs online, ordered the cd, and also have a video i want to share with you!



thank you for taking this little journey with me.
it makes me happy today. and sometimes we need to hold on tight to the little things that make us happy!

its thursday again... and it feels so like spring here. my flowers are coming up in my front yard, the sun is shining bright, there are heavy rain showers at night. bliss. i am so ready for newness!!

on that vein, here are some of my flickr faves that give me the same feeling...

something else i'm {loving} today?? that my leg is feeling a bit better! on monday night i took a bad fall and pulled the muscles in my right leg really bad. so i've been hobbling around for a few days now feeling like an idiot, but its feeling better today.

and also on my list: breakfast!! eggs benedict to be precise. :) chris made poached eggs for the first time and we made breakfast together. eggs benedict is my absolute favorite! picture is from my phone, so don't mind the quality. :P

another thing i'm just dying to share with you is a giveaway i saw. i have large dreams about my photography business, and the camera i want, and of course, the perfect bag to put that camera in. and i think i've found mine!!! another month down

i can't believe its already march of 2010. why does it seem like time speeds up the older you get? that makes me so glad for the fact that i'm taking a moment each week to take a portrait and write a poem. its helping me to slow down a bit, capture life, revel in what is and not worry about what isn't yet. it will come....

with that in mind, here are my 4 portraits + poems for the month of february. some of my favorite ones yet. these can also be seen on my blog 52weeks (you can click on the link in my right sidebar also).

FEBRUARY 2010: i watched the team i was rooting for win the superbowl, bought a new scent for myself, dove into my class work and have a goal to finish it by june 1st, got stressed out about rehearsals for the play, got strep throat and a sever cold that lasted for 3 weeks, had a lovely visit with my canadian family, didn't sing nearly as much as i wanted to, ate homemade pizza, had no money to pay bills for the second february in a row, helped my mum through some hardships, decided spring has arrived, read a couple really great books in a day, was made assistant choreographer for our play, dreamed of tattoos and dreadlocks, touched up my blonde hair, went on a road trip to canada, enjoyed warmer weather, was in and out of sync with my husband, finished up my second month of 52week pictures, survived a family emergency, watched my littlest sister get baptized, was given a desktop computer by my father-in-law, worked in ellensburg for a day, was blown away by how fast my hair grows, helped develop the idea for our play poster, started buying gold at work, ate some gross microwave popcorn, and took pictures along the way. it was a good month.
