Project Life–Week 9 & 10

ProjectLife2014

Back today to share another couple weeks of my 2014 Project Life.

Here is Week 9:

ProjectLifeWeek9

This week contains lots of pink and white and lots of writing. It was a full week. I’ve been craving eggs like crazy lately, even eating them scrambled. I used to not even be able to stand the smell of them cooking. It’s a big change, and I’m embracing it! I Facetimed with my mom for the first time. She’s so cute. I rearranged my office, walked in the cold with my puppy and talked a bit about our decision to leave the theater.

ProjectLifeWeek9-1

We were invited to preview the show at Masquers and laughed a ton and I also went to the Quincy theater with my friend Lisa to see Brigadoon. Great play! I liked the songs a lot. On March 1st we had a pollen alert, a flash flood watch and a winter weather advisory. Crazy! I also started my Squat Challenge for March and shared my before pictures.

ProjectLifeWeek9-2

Here is Week 10:

ProjectLifeWeek10

I shared a lot about our current round of HCG. That along with even just a couple days of squats and I was fitting back into my littlest pants and Chris was feeling awesome trying on some old pants! I also shared a quote that really inspired me this week.

ProjectLifeWeek10-1

Thursday night I did my first Google+ hangout with Hey Sweet Pea for a class on social media. I really learned a lot that I look forward to implementing. I had a householder part in Russian and shared my notes. My Dad had spinal surgery this week and I wrote about it and being able to be there with Mom and Dad through the process.

Project Life : Weeks 7 and 8

ProjectLife2014

I am so in love with this project and this way of memory keeping. I’ve been keeping up really well and just going with the flow. I look at lots of other people’s pocket pages online and get really inspired, but I find that I always come back to my style when I’m doing my own pages. I’m learning to embrace it.

Here is Week 7.

ProjectLifeWeek7

This week Holli and I had been working hard to get the program created for The Lone Star Love Potion performance at Masquers. We took it over from Bev and so far we’re a really good team. One day she came and sat close with me on my computer to really crank it out and she was watching on Kayo that afternoon. It was just a blast to see him and Gibson play together! He’s such a cute kid. Chris traded me his phone upgrade to allow me to get an iPhone. It was just the right choice to make for work. I got a bright pink iPhone 5C and so far I really love it! My parents celebrated 18 years of marriage last month and as a gift for my Dad I scripted a lyric from their wedding song and framed it for him. I love how it turned out.

ProjectLifeWeek7-1

The weekend was spent with my parents helping them out…we drove Dad to Wenatchee for an appointment and did some things around the house to help them. Then we went to the meeting in Twisp with them Sunday morning. There was still a ton of snow up there!

ProjectLifeWeek7-2

Here is Week 8.

ProjectLifeWeek8

This was a really enjoyable week. It started with a little date night and we went and saw the Lego Movie. It was pretty funny. And I still get that “Everything is Awesome” song stuck in my head. There were a lot of blast from the past moments this week with a FB message from a girl I went to high school with, sharing some old pictures of Chris and I when we were dating and finding some of my artwork from high school while organizing my closet.

ProjectLifeWeek8-1

It was also a special week because we had a visit from a Russian Circuit Overseer and his wife from New York. Their names were Craig and Jenny Wilson and they were very kind, encouraging and real. They were a lot like us…around the same age and we had some shared experiences. I got to have lunch with them just the 3 of us one day and I was able to share a bit of the struggles I’m dealing with. They were good listeners and it was a blessing just to share. Craig gave his second talk on Sunday in English which was helpful because so many of us in the Russian group here don’t understand enough Russian. Glad for their visit and for our little group.

Project Life Weeks 5 and 6

ProjectLife2014

I bought a refill for my dymo label maker and decided to use that on my scripted week cards to show the dates of each week. I love that its still black and white, little enough to not loose the impact of the scripting, but does the job. I’ve since gone back and added the date range to weeks 1-4.

ProjectLifeWeek5-3

So today I have weeks 5 and six to share.

ProjectLifeWeek5

Week 5 began with a trip to visit Hannah (and baby Harper) for a new haircut and color. I really wanted to get to a platinum blonde color, and we almost got there. See my Hair Diaries post here. The first of February brought the beginning of my Life Scripted class at Studio Calico. I was invited to be a model at my friend’s CAbi party and had so much fun. Fitting into smaller size clothes and trying on tons of outfits was a blast.

ProjectLifeWeek5-1

On the weekend Chris and I went to Wenatchee to celebrate our Half-aversary (just a few weeks late) and I got Chris a brand new acoustic guitar as a gift. We enjoyed steaks at Applebee’s and did a little shopping for grey boots for me. And Sunday was the Superbowl! The Seahawks won, and it was neat to watch with some real Seahawks fans. So glad we were invited to watch with Cliff and Stacey and their family.

ProjectLifeWeek5-2

Here is week 6.

ProjectLifeWeek6

February brought some snow to our little town finally. The best part of it was being able to shovel our driveway without getting winded or having to stop half-way through. I got to go for a lunch with my friend Holli and have some girl talk that we both desperately needed. And I did a ton of practicing and creating for my Life Scripted class. I am falling in love with this art form.

ProjectLifeWeek6-1

Chris and I have worked together to create some great HCG recipes that we really love and enjoy eating. Its been great to share these recipes with people on my blog. Friday was our first read-through of our next play at Masquers called “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” And on the 9th I was under 190lbs!! An exciting milestone.

ProjectLifeWeek6-2

There are lots more Project Life posts on the way…I’m only a week behind in creating the pages but a little more behind in sharing. Hehe. Man, I love this way of memory keeping.

Project Life update

ShadylaneBlogProjectLifeHeader

With my office in transition, and no time to set up my new Canon Selphy printer, I’ve been a little delayed in creating and sharing my pages. But with the help of my prolific instagramming habit and picture taking I’ve been able to put together my pages relatively quickly. Its time like these I’m glad I’ve got a great memory and take good notes!

So today I have 2014 weeks 3 and 4 to share with you. Again, I’m using my brush scripted week cards. Still working on what I’ll do to list the actual dates in there, but I’m sure something will come to me!

Here is Week 3.

thepocketsource-pocket-scrapbooking-projectlifeWeek3

On Monday we were finishing out our “date weekend” and drove home by way of Wenatchee. I did some work while we were driving and snapped this cool picture of what I dubbed my “mobile office.” We went to the new Public Market there in Wenatchee and enjoyed some gelato and bought some specialty olive oil. Then we went and saw The Book Thief.

thepocketsource-pocket-scrapbooking-projectlifeWeek3-1

On Tuesday we spent the afternoon in the dentist’s office waiting for Chris to be seen for an emergency visit. His face was swollen up so bad and he was in so much pain. He did like the dentist we eventually ended up seeing, so that was good. My sister Megan made a quick trip down that evening to pick up some merchandise for the spa. It was nice to see her even for just a little bit.

thepocketsource-pocket-scrapbooking-projectlifeWeek3-2

The rest of my week consisted of a couple really long days finishing up the HAZWOPER curriculum for an NICA class. There was editing of content and formatting of pages and printing of 20 books… a HUGE task. But I’m really proud of the finished product!

This week was also the one-year anniversary of having Gibson in our lives. We did a special photoshoot with our little one.

Then there was a party for our friends Jimmy and Marla. I wrote a bit about what their friendship means to us and how excited we are for the next part of their journey at Couple’s School.

Its amazing to me sometimes how much can get crammed into a week of my life. I love this project for being able to take things one picture or memory at a time and really savor it. I used a lot of the Sunshine Edition cards this week again, along with some stickers from my stash. I am getting to the point where I need to get a tray or something to house all my cards so I can see and use them.

And here is Week 4.

ProjectLifeWeek4

Week 4 was consumed by our HAZWOPER class. It is a 40 hour Advanced Disaster Site Worker that ended up being filled with Jehovah’s Witnesses, which made for a pretty special week. We used the curriculum I helped to build and prepare, did hands-on activities like Decon and barrel handling.

ProjectLifeWeek4-1

On Wednesday we didn’t provide a lunch like usual, we made the class eat food out of their Go-Bags! Made for a fun afternoon full of little cook stoves and 2000 calorie bars. I got to wear a cowboy hard hat the day we did our Confined Space training and I really enjoyed getting to know the teaching crew that Kris put together better. I learned a lot this week; lessons that will impact me for the rest of my life. This job is so valuable to me!

ProjectLifeWeek4-2

I added a picture of our On Sunday of this week Chris and I started another round of HCG and these are my starting pictures. Its been amazingly helpful to share pictures and stories from this journey the last few weeks. I’m glad for this space online I have to share.

Well, its back to the office rearranging for me! And maybe a few more layouts. I just love this project.

The Pocket Source Blog Hop

BLOG HOP LOGO

Welcome to The Pocket Source Blog Hop. You should have arrived from Cathy’s blog and I’m so glad you’re here! Your next stop on the hop is Melissa. I’m Shaina and I’ve been scrapbooking since my youth. My first job in high school was at a scrapbook store, and between that and my mom’s memory books, it just stuck. I discovered pocket scrapbooking a couple years ago and just dove in head first. I love how versatile this makes memory keeping, and its been amazing to see how fast its grown.

And that’s where The Pocket Source comes in! I really don’t know how I discovered The Pocket Source…but once I was there I was hooked. Its definitely my kind of online community. I love the forums and all the conversations happening, the gallery full of inspiration already, and Leslie, the creator of the site, she is one smart cookie! I think its brilliant to have a pocket scrapbooking specific site where we are all on the same (pocket filled) page.

I shared last week the beginnings of my 2014 Project Life scrapbook, and today I have Week 2 to share with you.

thepocketsource-pocket-scrapbooking-projectlifeWeek2

I have been really striving to use up my stash of products before I go spending more money, so lots of these embellishments are years old. My favorite old standby: the manila tag. I also included a couple sticks from the Chalk Studio line by My Minds Eye. Chalk is one of my favorite trends right now.

Left side:

I am a big fan of using my handwriting on my pocket pages. I can fit a ton of journaling on those little cards and I try to utilize all the space I have. This page also has some stamping. The stamps are little dollar ones from Target ages ago. Still work; still love them! And I love seeing my ideas come together for my weekly cards. My brush scripted week intro looks so cool in the pocket. Glad I followed through with that idea!

Right side:

I loved the list journaling card from the Sunshine Edition Project Life kit. It was the perfect way to get lots of details about our weekend in one card. I’ve also been making sure to take pictures of all the posters of all the movies we go see to make sure they get in my album too. Little details that will be fun reminders in years to come looking back.

Curious about pocket scrapbooking and what The Pocket Source is all about? Make sure to follow on to the next blog in this hop to see Melissa’s style, how she approaches her pockets and what she loves about The Pocket Source.

For extra inspiration make sure to follow The Pocket Source on Facebook, and Pinterest. If you love memory keeping you’re going to love being a part of this community. I’m glad I found it, and hope to see you there!

Project Life 2014

ShadylaneBlogProjectLifeHeader

Yay! I am so excited to share the beginnings of my Project Life album for 2014. I was waiting on my Life|Scripted class for my title and weekly cards and now that its arrived (and I’m addicted) I could finalize my cover and begin my weekly spreads.

I am such a huge fan of this project and type of memory keeping. I love printing pictures, telling stories, using up my scrap supplies, and trying new techniques. I think it matches my life manifesto: “celebrating the everyday” so well. Project Life makes memory keeping easy, and I just can’t get enough.

Here is my cover page for 2014:

ProjectLife1

I practices writing 2014 with a brush so many times knowing this was my plan. I didn’t originally think to write out twenty-fourteen till I was in the moment, but I love how it turned out. A little handwriting, a couple Thickers and some journaling cards later and I was done. I love the little pops of yellow. I’ve been so drawn to that color lately.

And now on to Week One.

ProjectLife2ProjectLife3

I’m not quite sure how I’m going to add the dates yet on my weekly cards (perhaps with a label-maker or a stamp) but once I decide I’ll go back and add to this.

For the first layout I wanted to share my reasons for picking Thrive as my OneLittleWord for 2014. I followed the prompts from Ali Edward’s first class and used those as the basis for my journaling cards. I also added that first picture from Pinterest that jumped out at me a few months ago that drew me to the word.

On my second page I tried to keep it simple, but used some new wood veneers that I got recently. This week included our first date night of 2014 and a road trip for me to Canada with my parents.

Yay for good beginnings!SCRAPBOOKING

Project Life: my beginnings

For a long time now I have watched many different people (Ali Edwards and Elise in particular) work each week on their Project Life and share their pages. This concept for memory keeping created by Becky Higgins just really speaks to me. I have been inspired and wanted so badly to start on my own. And then with the world premier of Project Life on HSN I was able to! I got the complete kit for an incredible price and jumped right in.

So now its my turn to create and share and cultivate and record. I am so excited!

I decided to create an intro page as if I had began the project at the beginning of 2013. I don’t know if I’ll go back and document the first three months or not, but I wanted to leave that option available to me. I went back and found pictures of both of us from the beginning of the year to add. Went with a color scheme that spoke to me in the moment and I love how it turned out!

IntroPage

I got my kit in the mail with perfect timing… April 1st. And so here is my full spread for Week 14 of 2013.

Week14Spread

I used a few cards from the Jade core kit and also just some of my stash. I like the idea of letting the week dictate the colors and embellishments that I use. That is working pretty good for me so far.

Week14Page1

This week included getting my Project Life kit in the mail, playing with my puppy and his (totally needed) haircut. Chris went to the meeting in spite of dealing with the extreme pain of his kidney stone and gave his Russian Bible reading. So proud of him.

The second half of the week included an email from the Regional Manager at work that made me laugh out loud. She even used my “exaggeration” phrase! The journaling block tells the story of the guests we had for the weekend. This week I also went to the brand new Ross store in Moses Lake and bought us a new bed set. And then I got to go with the Bosnar family to their daughter’s performance of Die Fledermaus, a hysterical operetta. The Capital Theater in Yakima was spectacular and Ri completely stole the show. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Week14Page2

One thing that Elise included in her Project Life during 2012 were these great quote cards. After the year was complete she shared a download of them all and I am excited to incorporate them into my Project Life pages this year.

I love the one I used for Week 15. I thought it matched perfectly!

Week15Spread

Chris’ parents were visiting us for the week and they put in a small square of sod in the backyard for us. Its been an empty weed patch since we moved in (almost 2 years ago already) and just this little touch of green made me so happy! I got new glasses from Firmoo.com again, and I think these ones are my favorites! And I just had to take a picture of these incredible trees…really shows that spring has arrived in our town.

Week15Page1

During the week we enjoyed lots of good food and conversation with Chris’ parents…and from one such night this quote came from Glen. One of those “you had to be there moments” but its going to be an inside family joke for many years to come, I just have a feeling!! We were also so grateful to them for buying us a new washing machine. Both of our appliances died on us recently and we’d been going to the Laundromat. We had a set given to us from some friends, and the dryer works awesome! The washer…not so much. So Glen and Christa generously got us a new one. It was delivered on Friday and I was so happy to do laundry at home again!

Week15Page2

Saturday we spent the afternoon with our friends Harold and April. We went to the new burger restaurant in Moses Lake and then saw Jurassic Park in 3D. Such a fun night!

And now I’m all caught up. My plan is to share my pages every Sunday. So next week I’ll have Week 16 up. This will give me an extra week to create my pages and prepare them to post. I am excited to be scrapbooking and creating again. It is a fun place to keep and save all the little things that we celebrate together every day. Thanks for taking a peek!
