My first day

On Thursday (10/11/12!) I started my new job at Horizon Credit Union. And they even had my name tag ready for me already. Little things like that make me really happy. If you want to catch up on the story of how I got the job and why I made the change come read this post HERE.

My first day with them went so good. I got to meet everyone at one of the branches that I’ll sometimes work in. Today I’m going to the branch inside of the Safeway store and then next week I go to Ephrata branch, where I’ll mostly be working.

All of the people at the branch were so friendly, kind and welcoming. I just know I’m going to love being a part of this team and fit well with the Credit Union’s values.

hello february

wow...all of the sudden february has arrived.  i thought last year went by fast, but 2011 is just zooming by.  i thoroughly enjoyed the little blogging break i gave myself in january.  i definitely needed the time to begin things, finish other things, and decide to begin new things.  its been a time of self-reflection and introspection. 

so, i guess that's kinda vague.  want some specifics??  :)

• i have finished designing all the pages for my 52weeks book and can't wait to begin the next part of the self-publishing process
• i was asked to create wedding invitations for a friend who got engaged last month and that got my mind literally spinning with ideas of creating print items (along with other things) as a business concept
• i am working on a new blog design for myself and am wanting to learn as much as i can in the process because i want to start offering blog re-designs again.  i loved doing them in 08/09 and i would love to really develop my skills in design and implementation in blog interfaces
• as you might have noticed in the above pictures, i am blond again!!  and i think this is the first time since i was 16 that i didn't do a before and after picture... crazy.  it was kinda spontaneous and i totally needed the feel of sunshine after weeks and weeks of the fog and gray that surround me
• i wrote a few more poems to finish up my project and they are some of my favorites ever.  i am embracing the poet inside me again and it feels so freeing.

i am beginning

i am beginning to change the things i feed my body.  i can already tell a difference.

i am beginning a new friendship from an old awkward acquaintance. 

i am beginning to do something just for me every day.

i am beginning to watch hair style tutorials.  i want to start to do more with my hair.

i am beginning to plan promotional ideas for my 52weeks book.

i am beginning to write again...in my journal.  which has made this space a little quiet lately.  its seems that part of my embracing these new beginnings this year has been really stepping back and figuring out who i truly am.  what do i want my life to be, and how can i get there.  i know that  blogging will always be a part of me.  but i want to really define and calibrate my voice as a blogger, i want to be true to me and not feel like i need to compare myself with anyone else.  i want to look at my life and look at my blog (and online presence in general)  and feel like its ME.  i want to write and live from the heart.

this is the beginning.  and i like how its looking...  :)

ps.  the picture above is my OLW ring i purchased from this etsy seller:  tiny tokens designs.  really great price and lovely product.  im soooo happy with how it turned out.  its a positive reminder every time i look down at my hands.

my one little word for this year is:

this word is a verb meaning: 1) to perform the first or earliest part of some action; commence; start 2) to come into existence; arise; originate 3) to be the originator of.  its synonyms include such words as: inaugurate, actualize, establish, instigate, introduce, generate, impel, open, prepare, produce, undertake, become functional. 

this is how i am approaching the year 2011... with the intention of opening myself up to the possibility held by this word.  i want to begin so many things, and also finish what i start.  i want to savor the beginnings of things and recognize the change they bring.  i want to "be the originator" of action and progress and movement.

i want to begin to live.
