The ELEPHANT RIDE!!
I am still just giddy about being able to go for my elephant ride at the Grant County Fair on Friday night. And the coolest part was that we were there so late in the day that I got to ride by myself! My elephant’s name was Debbie and she was a little rascal. She spotted a pop can that was the trainer’s and stole it when he wasn’t looking, then dumped it out and hid it! She was really playful.
And here’s the video that Chris took for me to share with you all!
I have loved elephants since I was 13 and have quite a collection, but I’ve never been this close to one before. Its something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m so glad that we went to the fair and I got a chance.
After visiting the elephants for awhile we headed over to carry on our fair tradition and ride the Farris Wheel. We had our first kiss at a fair after a Farris Wheel ride 6 years ago, so its special to us.
We walked around for awhile together taking in all the sights, watching the other rides and listening to the music. And then Chris treated me to my very first Funnel Cake. We shared its yummy, sugary goodness as we headed to see the animals asleep in there pens. There were some HUGE pigs and the lamas were pretty cute. This is turning into one of the greatest summers we’ve spent together. I’m glad we’re going and doing things together when we can, while still spending as little money as possible. I’m pretty proud of that. I hope you all are enjoying and savoring and celebrating these summer days.
Have you ever rode an elephant?
What’s your favorite part of the fair?
Is there a ride you still love going on?
my goodness, i really want to ride one! And i love your photos...they are great. Fairs, carnivals, and the circus are my favorite things in the world. I wish the Dixie Classic Fair here had an elephant i could ride. Glad you guys have been having an awesome summer.
ReplyDeleteOh Jessica, it was so awesome! The ride was pretty short, but I'm so glad I did it. Totally a great experience. I haven't been to a fair in a few years, but they hold so many great memories for me. I'm glad we went this year. :) I hope you've been enjoying your summer too!
DeleteElephants are my favorite too and I rode one here in Spokane when I was a kid. (like 5 or 6 years old) I will never forget it! I haven't been to the Spokane Fair in a long time but I always loved trying the different foods and riding the Octopus!
ReplyDeleteThe octopus was always my favorite ride at the fair growing up. My brother and sister and I used to be good friends with all the carnies... not sure if that was a good thing come to think of it now. ;) lol.
DeleteI rode an elephant when I was either 4 or 5 when my mom and her friends took me to York's Wild Kingdom in York Beach, ME (which was the only time I ever went to an amusement park until I was in my teens).
ReplyDeleteIn terms of rides, my favorites were always the Tilt-a-Whirl and the Scrambler. I've become quite the roller coaster enthusiast, though too. A trip out to Coney Island to take a ride on the Cyclone has become a yearly thing.
Tilt-a-Whirl!! I loved that ride!! :D I went on a roller coaster when I was in Disneyland the summer I graduated high school. That was my first one ever. Quite an experience. I just wish ticket to places like that weren't so expensive!!
DeleteOmigoodness looks like fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the funnel cake looks soo goooood
ReplyDeleteI did with a little Jennifer. She was about 4 years old and it was at a circus here in Prince George BC... Wish I had a video of it but don't think there were videos then... ha ha!
ReplyDeleteOh, little Jennifer on an elephant!? That would have been so cute. Maybe you can take Ezra sometime soon and get video of that. ;) Thanks for commenting!
DeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteI tried funnel cake last year in Florida. My best friend had spent months going on about how much she was looking forward to it. I wasn't impressed! It was just too sweet!

Yeah, I could only have a couple bites. But I really liked the strawberries and whipped cream they put on top. :)
