My Sleep Talking Husband

Chris is able to fall asleep soooo fast it drives me crazy, but real gems happen when his mouth is still working after he’s entered dream world. The things that he comes up with sometimes just kill me! I usually share on Facebook so others can have a laugh too, but Chris thought it would be fun to share on the blog. I loved that idea!

Here are three of my favorites:

“Muppets can’t drool, they’ve got no saliva.”

“Cowboys don’t need power tools.”

“Picasso is a douche bag…asymmetry is for pansies.”

I really have to start remembering to write them down more often. The best times are when he responds to the questions I ask him in his sleep. We’ve had full conversations before that just keep getting funnier and funnier.

Laughter is good for my soul…I’m so glad this husband of mine can make me laugh…fully conscious or not! Hehe!

Have you ever read The Sleep Talking Man blog? His wife records what he says to share, which I think is brilliant. He’s a bit of potty mouth sometimes, but so many good one-liners.

Do any of your loved ones talk in their sleep?
Do you write down the funny things they say?
Please share some!

  1. Ha ha that made me laugh!!
My man also talks in his sleep. Once he said "don't forget to take the tie", I said "What for?" and he answered "To hook it to the suitcase, you idiot!" and sometimes weird things like "Poutou poutou poutou". I laugh all the time ;)
And that website is a treasure!

  2. My husband and I thank you for the link! We've been reading/listening and giggling.

I need to get a voice activated recorder. I used to sleep talk all the time, but my husband has yet to hear me. He sleep talks a lot so even if I've outgrown it, we can get some awesome quotes from him.

    1. A voice activated recorder is such a good idea!! I was thinking I could try and catch Chris talking with the recorder on my phone, but I'd probably miss it. Glad you're enjoying that link! :D

  3. I don't have a sleep talker, but it did make me think of this episode of This American Life... particularly, part one. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/361/fear-of-sleep

    1. Okay, so I listened and the intro was quite depressing, but part one was pretty funny! Thanks for sharing. I loved the story about how he ended up on top of the shelf unit in their living room.

  4. Mine's a sleep talker sometimes. It's hilarious! I've been known to talk in my sleep on occasion as well...The one he still makes fun of me for is, "They should make a spoon for that!" (Spoken one night before a Pampered Chef party I was having! LOL)

  6. Mines not a sleep talker, but I am. I love hearing about the things I've said. Having a voice activated recoreder sounds like exactly what I need! Apparently I have a potty mouth too though, and most of my memorable ones are a bit on the bad side lol. Great post :)

  7. This is amazing!

When my brother and I were kids, we used to sleep on the sofas at my dad's flat when we visited. One night, he sat up and announced he was going to check on the wine in the cellar. Since it was a third floor flat, there was no cellar and he was certainly nowhere near old enough to have wine to check on!

  8. Oh these are funny! I am terrible at sleep talking and walking. It's been pretty bad lately. In fact a couple of weeks ago I got up and ran across the room in a panic because I thought there were a bunch of bugs on our bedroom wall and I yelled "Either I'm going crazy or this sucks!" My husband just kept reading his book and said nonchalantly "You're going crazy."

  9. My husband sleep talks, though not real frequently...it's hilarious but I've never written any of it down, I'll have to start doing that. On the same note, he's also acted out some of his dreams. He jumped on top of me one night because he had to protect me in his dream.

  10. I used to talk in my sleep as a child and also up to about age 21 or 22. It can be quite comical to hear what I say, but now that I no longer do it, it is kind of a disappointment, that no one can answer my sleep questions! My Dad talked in his sleep his whole life!
