Outfit pictures…yeah, really.

This is the post with pictures taken by kind friends who took a crash course in digital SLR camera photography of me and my husband who was kind enough to pose every morning for pictures to prove how cute we are. Yeah...he's a keeper. And he’s so handsome!

Pictured is my my cute stripped maxi skirt that I was so excited to finally find and the dress that Chris calls my “marble dress.” I got both at Burlington Coat Factory for like $12 each. Seriously. I love that store! And the bottom dress is the one I got last summer for my sister’s wedding from Ruche. It’s pretty much as comfy as wearing my pj’s. Smile

We had a lovely weekend away for the annual District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. It is a 3-day gathering full of scriptural information. This year's theme was "Safeguard Your Heart" based on Proverbs 4:23. We stayed with friends and ate some terrible food and I wrote so many notes my hand is still cramped. It was a hard few days physically, but the spiritual encouragement we received helped me to focus on the blessings God gives and the right heart condition to move forward facing trials. It was a great 3 days.

So there you have it, my first “outfit post.” I’m looking forward to trying some Vivienne McMaster-inspired self-portraits with my new skirt.

Do you have a favorite skirt or dress?
Where do you like to go shopping?

  1. You guys are so cute! I love all your outfits, especially your maxi skirt. Wasn't the convention awesome? I think Friday was probably my favorite day, although they were all great. Lots of things to think about...

Where do I like to go shopping? Most of my dresses & skirts come from JCPenney, and most of my dressy work clothes (not that I dress up for work much) come from New York & Co. I also love Kohl's and seeing what I can find at Ross.

    1. The convention was amazing! I loved the Keynote Address the best and the talk about Peter in Sunday's symposium. I recorded the whole 3 days so I'm eager to go back and listen again. :)
Ross used to be my favorite place to get dress clothes before we discovered Burlington Coat Factory. Its almost like Ross x4! ;) We have a Ross coming in to our town here finally, so I'll probably search there if I need something in the future. Its hard living so rural!

    2. Girl, you don't know rural! LOL Our entire county has one traffic light, and that is 25 miles from our house! The town I live in has two 4-way stops and a few dinky stores. We drive 45 minutes to Tupelo (birthplace of Elvis! :D) every week for groceries. That's where our mall, movie theater, etc. are. RUR-AL. LOL

    3. OH and we don't have a Burlington Coat Factory, but there's one a couple hours away. I have only been once or twice but loved it!

I think my favorite talks were the symposium on Friday about preparing your heart and the talk Saturday afternoon about Jehovah being near to those broken at heart. I was super-sick Sunday morning and didn't get much of the symposium because I kept having to get up. I wanted to go to another one and attend Sunday again, but we never got to. :(

  2. Shaina, those dresses are adorable on you! I'm on the shorter side (5'3") and never even consider long dresses or skirts... But now I wanna go shopping for some maxis :)

    1. Thanks so much Kristin! I really love them and so glad I found a stripped one like I'd been searching for. My friend and I were just talking tonight about buying the fabric and making some of our own based on the skirt I have. That might be a good way to go if you want to make it the perfect length for you. Just a thought! :) Happy shopping!
